Goal Digging

“Are you living a purpose driven life?”

We’re almost halfway through the year and a few people are still procrastinating. Did you set some goals for the beginning of the year that you haven’t even attempted executing? I want you to ask yourself what are the top three steps you can take to finish strong? We’re almost halfway through the year. Have you looked at the list of goals you set for yourself leading into 2016? A lot of times we can set goals but don’t map out a plan to execute. Other times, our list is so long, we wouldn’t accomplish the goals within the next 5 years. Instead we tell ourselves we’ll do it all now and fail. I want you to know even if you haven’t set out to do anything on your list, there’s still time. Life happens, a death in the family, a break-up, or a financial situation that has delayed you. Remember those things are inevitable. Even if they slow you down, keep going.

The 3 steps that I’ve found that help to execute my goals and end my year strong are:

1. Determine what you want to achieve

2. Write it down

3. Do one thing every day that brings you closer to your goal.

Now after you’ve done completing the above tasks….let’s grab a board, a few magazines, a scissor, and glue. Proceed to make a vision board or an action board. Seeing the goal helps you believe it’ll happen. Such as with my fitness clients bonding outside of our designated workout period, I saw my vision manifested before my eyes. Days they didn’t work out with me they would meet with each other to fulfill their fitness goals. That was big for me; I was supplying more than just a fitness workout. Some women left with accountability partners. That inspired the vision “women empowering women”.

You see we all start the year with all these goals. Halfway through the year we fall short of the plan. So I decided to put people in a room that were hungry for growth. Not just losing weight but succeeding. Do you know it’s someone right now that wants to go back to school? Since they don’t know how to fill out a financial aid application, they gave up. Granted some might think Google can answer all their questions. What if you didn’t have to use Google, and it’s someone that can help you at the event. Do you know of someone that wants to write a book? They might be intimidated with the idea and holding themselves back. Last year I had a guest speaker that was a self-published writer.

This year I chose to add men to the panel. Now when I choose my speakers, I look for people trying to change our community and their tomorrow. I wasn’t looking for someone that was popular. I wanted passion, when passion drives you, when money isn’t involved…. you’ll keep pushing. Going into the first year of “women empowering women” I looked at my son. He draws up all my visions even though he’s a young boy. We’re nothing without our men. In this world we have to help each other. My women always do a good job speaking. The men came and showed out. I wouldn’t change anything about it. We all have a God given talent. Yours might be to nurse one back to health at the hospital. Another could be to help a little boy catch a football or teach that little girl to love herself. A few people asked me when advertising the event, why didn’t I put it on Facebook?. Well the truth is, this was my baby and with our new babies, we don’t want them touched by the outside world. My son, Sincere was almost 1 before I put his first picture on social media. So with this being the second event, I wanted to work by “faith” and not “popularity”.

A lot of us only want to attend an event only after knowing who else will be in attendance? When it’s all said and done we’re speaking about our future. “Women empowering Women” and encouraging you to reach your destiny…..and extend ourselves to each other on this journey…called life.

So the who’s who in attendance shouldn’t be a factor….this is all about “YOU”..
