Geesh where do I start, well I’m Clevona Founder and Owner of CURVY GIRL FEVER LLC. I started my business around April 2016. CURVY GIRL FEVER also known as CGF is a clothing brand geared towards making bold slogan pieces for full figured women. My company wasn’t always a clothing brand; it started off as a blog. I would feature influential women in the plus size community. The support the blog received was amazing, and then my brain started working on how I can evolve my brand even more. I got the idea to do t-shirts but I wanted them to be meaningful I wanted it to be something that reflects who I am as well as so many other women out there. That’s when “I’m My Own Body Goals” collection/campaign was born. I came up with the trending slogan I’M MY OWN BODY GOALS™ because I constantly saw the hashtags Goals or Body Goals floating around the internet. I loved the idea, but cringed when I realized how many women wished they looked like someone else. I thought to myself “Hmm, I’m My Own Body Goals” not because I’m perfect by any means but I have learned to embrace and love myself for all that I am. I wanted to spread this message with other women. Like hey, it’s okay to be your own body goals.
This message is so important for me to spread because I want us as women to really feel that we’re enough as we are. We don’t need to have what the next woman have we’re already amazing. I love having a business centered on something that I strongly stand for but it’s not always a walk in the park. I have days where it’s tough, I’m not feeling as confident in myself, sales are slow, marketing ideas are a hit or miss. It is really hard being a business owner but I just always remember where I started and why I started that keeps me going. I’m not exactly sure where my business will be 10 years from now or 5 years from now, I barely know where it’s going to be at next year lol. But my best decision was believing in myself and starting my own business no matter the dark days it’s still mine. I determine if I succeed or fail with it no one else. My advices to women that’s contemplating becoming an entrepreneur and starting their own business is just do it. Just work on it, put a plan in motion and make sure you’re doing some you are passionate about. I promise you once you start you will not want to stop!
