Passion drives purpose

What were you guys doing before vision boards? I was writing my New Year’s resolutions and only holding myself accountable for the bare minimum. When I went off to college a long time ago lol I was setting myself up for success. If you knew me personally I had to get away from a toxic situation.  The energy and drive was there so what happened? Every time I went home it felt like I was missing something. I eventually didn’t go back and got caught up in a detrimental lifestyle. It only had temporary everything for me.

“Your past is a place of reference, not a place of residence.”

When I was 17 I drew a picture of a plaza. I named it Tassy plaza short and simple. The plaza consisted of a daycare, hair salon, real estate, investor’s group, tax and insurance office. Now looking back at this drawing I realized I’ve always been working on this building. Markeisa Tassy enterprise has been unfolding and although it’s nowhere near altogether it’s coming along. I claimed the building when I drew it. I didn’t have to look at it continuously but it was embedded in my heart.

“You can only become truly accomplished at something you love.

Don’t make money your goal. Instead, pursue the things you love doing,

and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off you.”

-Maya Angelou

Now had I continued to go back to the drawing board I probably would have the building but could’ve lost it or been a millionaire. Never think anything you’re trying to do is out of your reach. You have to make a plan to get it done otherwise it’ll just be waiting on you. Less yes this year and more actions for personal growth for self. I can’t commit to weekly blogs right now. I can promise you this book I’m writing will make up for it. What’s something you committed to but yet to take any actions to get it done?

Now after a few years of telling you it’s not to late to finish anything I looked back at my life. 2006, 2007, 2011, and 2015 I set out to do one thing but caught up in excuses I never finished. I continuously ended up in dead ends. To break a never ending bad cycle you have to look at self and say that’s it. Set out realistic goals that you know you can accomplish. Start off small maybe a six week goal or maybe a three month goal. Before you know it you’re at six months and planning a year out from now. One step in the right direction beats a long journey to dead ends.

“May this be the year you choose yourself. Again and again and again.”

-Cara Alwill Leyba

January is almost over and a lot of people already fell off of that New Years resolution. Others have cluttered their vision boards and can’t think of the actions behind executing the ultimate vision. If that’s you I want you to create an action board or spreadsheet with one goal. Yes you heard me correctly one goal, not two, or three something you can execute within 21-30 days. There’s a method to my madness if it takes 21 days to make a break a habit I’m only trying to get you use to just that. I truly believe it’ll be that perfect step in the right direction. It could be something so small to just waking up 10 minutes earlier to have to with God, meditate, or speak life into yourself with positive affirmations. Or you could workout for only 10 minutes a day at home. Maybe it’s always been a goal for you to work on your finances but you’re scared to look at your money. Conquer that fear and begin to budget the more self-aware you are the better. If you don’t know where or how to do it turn on youtube it’ll lead the way. Last but not least if you gave yourself a timeline to execute one thing doing just that.

“There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”

-Nelson Mandela

Don’t forget to tell me something you’re going to hold yourself accountable for this year.
